Zlata Onufrieva is an award-winning London-based documentary filmmaker with a particular interest in socially conscious stories. 

Originally from a small city in Siberia, she worked as a journalist in Moscow until 2016, when she moved to Prague to study filmmaking at FAMU.

Zlata began her filmmaking career at the BBC World Service, where she promotes neurodiversity, inclusion, and women's rights through engaging storytelling and her unique ability to bring a light touch to some of the heaviest topics.

Her last film "Don’t Look for Me: Chechen Women Escape Russia’s Remote Republic" was shortlisted for Amnesty International’s Media Award 2025.
